Development of the Arches & Legs

Children will experience many significant developments in the structure and alignment of their legs throughout their growth.

All babies are born with flat feet and bowlegs. At 19 months old, the knees become straighter and less curved. At around 3 years old, children will start to develop knock knees. The arch of the foot has mostly developed by this point. By 4-6 years old, the arches typically have finished forming and their leg alignments have straightened like an adult’s.
